A fish pond, new roofs, and two gazebos
Pastor Peter Im · Fall 2025

The everyday work at the Children's Center never stopped this fall. The children's and youth Bible studies met, English and computer classes went on, the nutrition program kept serving, and our staff meetings and Bible studies continued over Zoom.
But if you had walked onto the grounds, you would have seen something else too: ladders, stacks of new roofing, piles of bricks, and workers busy across the grounds. This fall, the Center was also a building site.
A pond to feed the children
The biggest project began with a shovel. We dug a fish pond on the grounds. The idea is simple: fish raised right at the Center become fresh food for the children and youth in our nutrition program.
A pond and a yard full of children need a fence between them, so we built one all the way around. The children can watch the water, but from a safe distance.
We dedicated the pond to Mrs. Sopheap Khim, who went to be with the Lord in January 2025. She loved the Cambodian ministry at FBC and CCM.

Two gazebos, made new
The two gazebos on the grounds were due for remodeling. The workers took them down to their wooden frames and cleared away the old thatch.

Then new red metal roofs went on, as in the photo at the top of this page.
Roofs, walls, and the work no one sees
Some of the most important projects are the least exciting to photograph. The kitchen roof was repaired. The water reservoir got a roof of its own. The bathroom in the office building was remodeled.
New fencing also went up around the Children's Center itself, brick by brick.

Made possible by people who said yes
Several of these projects happened because individuals agreed to sponsor them when we asked. To each of you: thank you. Every one of these projects makes the Center a safer, better place for children to learn, eat, and worship.
A year later
Added in fall 2026: the fence around the pond was extended in early 2026, and the pond is now double-fenced. This fall, the first fish were harvested, and they will soon help feed the children in the nutrition program. Read about it in our Fall 2026 update.
